Rick Hinton President & CEO
Rick founded Red Hill Group in order to develop new ways to apply the power of markets and technology to creatively solve old problems involving economic, political, and financial decision making. The company's initial online offering was casualobserver.net (now predictionxchange.com), a political prediction market that achieved national attention during the 2006 midterm elections. Created to test the “Wisdom of Crowds” theory in the world of politics, the site eclipsed one of the leading polling organizations in accuracy. Prior to Red Hill Group, Rick was a founding partner with a consulting firm that built custom investment and planning software tools using advanced modeling and simulation technologies based on historic stock market and other financial data.
Rick has appeared on the CBS Evening News , the Kojo Nnamdi Show on NPR and in publications such as National Journal , Washington Business Journal , Slate.com and the Daily Record . He has spoken at industry events including the 2007 Politics Online Conference sponsored by the Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet.
Rick has held senior management roles at netDecide Corporation, a leading provider of wealth management software, as well as Ernst & Young and KPMG. He received a Masters of Business Administration degree from the George Washington University and a Bachelors degree in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland. Rick is active in charitable causes and is a board member of the Susie Kim Foundation for cancer research, and the Kentlands 5k Race Committee.
